| As Wi-Fi technology approaches maturity and enjoys extreme popularity and unanticipated success, it has been joined by a heftier companion, WiMAX. The applications of Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies to utility operations (both internal and commercial/UTelco) deserve special consideration. An update to our popular 2003 “Wi-Fi for Utilities” report, this study examines the fundamentals, background and evolution of WLAN technology.
