We are pleased to announce that Southern Company will host the UTC Region 3 Fall 2010 meeting in Birmingham, Alabama on October 6 & 7, 2010. Please make your reservations as soon as possible to assure your attendance at this event. • The special UTC rate is $129 per night, single or double. Other room types are available for additional fees by request. Hotel rate includes complimentary high speed wireless internet access and free local phone calls.
• Room reservations can be made by calling 800-996-3739. When you make reservations it is crucial to identify yourself as attending the Southern Company UTC meeting. Reservations must be made by September 5, 2010.
• The hotel is located approximately 30 minutes from the Birminham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM). The dominant carriers are Delta and Southwest, but US Airways, United, Continental, and American also serve the airport. 
• Transportation between Airport and hotel - The hotel has a shuttle service. You must call to schedule pick-up at least 24 hours in advance. Rental cars, airport shuttles or taxis are available. Taxi fees run approximately $40 one-way.
• Members and vendors are encouraged to participate in the technical sessions by suggesting appropriate topics or speakers to Kelly Massa at the address below. Presentation proposals should be provided by August 2nd to be considered.

The UTC Regulatory Update and Business meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon, October 6th and the technical presentation session will follow on Thursday, October 7th. A SERC Telecom subcommittee closed session meeting will be held on Friday morning October 8th.

Members are encouraged to refer potential vendor participants to contact Kim or direct them to the UTC website at www.utc.org. Helpful information for vendors will be attached in future e-mails in a separate file.

The Vendor Exhibition will be held on Wednesday evening, October 6th from 4:30-8:00 PM. This will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages as well as fellowship with UTC members, vendors, and guests. A wide variety of vendors will be present to show off their latest wares of interest to UTC members. There will be drawings for some great door prizes given away at the end of the evening (You must be present to win. Please bring a business card to registration to participate in the drawings).

Conference Registration: $30 per attendee for core members (Cash or check only). Checks should be made payable to UTC Region 3. There is no pre-registration required for members. Vendors must pre-register with Kim Baine at (434) 985-3600, FAX (434) 985-2006. The vendor registration deadline is September 1, 2010.

Who Should Attend: Sessions are relevant for managers of IT and telecom, wireless and transport engineers and technicians, and networking professionals from utility and energy companies, as well as representatives from technology and service providers.
