Make Sure to Update the Power Line Carrier Database

UTC works with the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the FCC to support the Power Line Carrier (PLC) Notification Activity. The purpose of the PLC Notification Activity is to establish and maintain a transmission PLC Database and an Authorized User Database, which will provide the information necessary for the identification and notification of potential interference between PLC and Authorized User facilities. If you participate in the PLC Notification Activity and have PLC transmitters, you have received a 2009 Update Request and Assessment Form. If you have PLC transmitters and have not been contacted by UTC, or you have any questions, please contact Kathleen Fitzpatrick. We appreciate your help in keeping the PLC Database updated.

Start UTC's New Membership Year Off Right - Volunteer!

As UTC starts its new membership year, we once again make the call for volunteers. Research has shown us that actively involved members get more out of the organization both professionally and personally. The great thing about volunteering with UTC is that you can let your schedule dictate how involved you are in each project. We understand that the economy has forced many members to do more with less, but that's exactly why volunteering in UTC is such a great idea. You can work on issues that will supplement work related projects, which can be a huge benefit to both you and your organization. Contact Karnel Thomas, VP-Member Services, at karnel.thomas@utc.org or 202.833.6816 to find out more.

Work Objectives Outlined by UTC Business Development Division

The UTC Business Development Division has outlined 2009-2010 work objectives and are encouraging all interested members to get engaged with the division. • Developing strategies to leverage AMI infrastructures being deployed by utilities to provide additional meter reading services for other electric, water and gas utilities.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage existing assets for greater utilization to benefit the shareholder while servicing our customers.
