UTC Webinar: FCC National Broadband Plan
On March 17, 2010, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will deliver to Congress its much-awaited National Broadband Plan which will serve as the master blueprint for how communications are governed in this country for years to come. A major part of this Plan focuses on the utility industry, with the main objective to ensure that the nation's goals of energy independence and efficiency are realized.
The Plan will drive changes in virtually every aspect of utility telecommunications and smart grid deployment from how networks are constructed to which technologies get deployed to how consumers communicate their energy needs. UTC is therefore pleased that Nick Sinai, the top FCC official who heads the agency's energy and environmental issues, will speak at our must-attend webinar. UTC Urges Utility Participation in Innovative Survey - Respond by March 30, 2010
UTC is embarking on a landmark survey that will document the range of commercial, public and other communications services that utilities offer. This study, Utility Telecom Services: A Comprehensive Analysis of Communications Services Offered by Utilities, will examine the range of communications options that utilities offer to homes, businesses, institutions, governments and other customers. The study will document the voice, video, data, collocation and specialized services that investor-owned, municipal, co-operative and other utilities offer in their service areas
UTC is urging all its core utility members to participate in this survey, which can be found here. UTC is also working with the American Public Power Association and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to gain widespread industry participation in the survey. Your participation in the survey will help to not only produce a better study and resource for the industry, but will also provide an opportunity for you to promote the telecommunications services that your utility offers. We are asking that members complete the quick and easy survey form no later than March 30, 2010.
If you have any questions or need any assistance, please contact Cynthia Brumfield at 202.833.6828, or contact Neha Shah at 202.833.6805.
