Smart Networks Council Hosts Open Meeting for Members in July

UTC will host a meeting of the Smart Networks Council on July 12 at 3 pm EDT/12pm PDT. In keeping with our expanded informational focus, we've planned a first-rate agenda which features a presentation from Lee Krevat from Sempra, who will deliver an overview and update of his company's cutting-edge smart grid initiatives. In addition, Klaus Bender will provide a top-line summary of the various standards developments that impact how you do business.

ONLY UTC MEMBERS CAN BE MEMBERS OF THE SMART NETWORKS COUNCIL (SNC). As a member, you have the option of "joining" Smart Networks Council. To take part in this and other SNC initiatives, we encourage you to sign up today in order to attend this meeting. The council is a unique forum created for and run by utility executives responsible for building and managing smart grids and smart network services. Please contact Neha Shah to sign up for the SNC. We will then provide you with the call-in information. For those interested in joining UTC to be a part of the SNC, please contact Kristy Weinshel.

UTC Launches Membership Renewal

The membership year for the Utilities Telecom Council runs from October 1, 2010 - September 30, 2011. To give everyone ample time to renew their organization's membership without a lapse in membership benefits, we plan to launch the renewal process July 14, 2010. If you are the primary contact for your membership, please watch your inbox for more information on how to renew. Members are the ESSENTIAL element of UTC so if you have any membership related questions, suggestions or improvements we'd love to hear them. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Kristy Weinshel, Director of Membership at 202.833.6815.

Now is the BEST Time to Join UTC

Are you a non-member that gets this email? It must mean that you are in some way connected to the utility telecom community. Now is the time to consider joining UTC, so you get a full year PLUS of membership. There are benefits for both utility members and vendor partners that are worth multiples of the actual membership fee. Only UTC serves as "the voice of critical infrastructure communications" representing energy and water utilities and their vendor partners on areas of interest such as spectrum allocation, pole attachment/joint use, cybersecurity, smart grid/smart energy networks, standards and more. To find out how you can start taking advantage of membership, please contact Kristy Weinshel, Director of Membership at 202.833.6815.

UTC Spectrum Services Re-Launches Frequency Sentry and License Sentry

UTC Spectrum Services is pleased to announce that we have rebranded our popular Frequency Guard and License Guard services as Frequency Sentry and License Sentry. The new names better reflect the high caliber defense that these products add to your frequency management. Frequency Guard is a unique service that notifies participants when applications are filed that are co-channel with, or on adjacent channels to, their designated PLMRS or MAS frequencies, within your own preferred parameters. Most of the time, you are notified of potential interfering facilities BEFORE the FCC grants the license. License Sentry enables UTC Spectrum Services to monitor, modify, renew and report on your FCC licenses automatically - taking all the work off of your plate and on to ours. If you are looking for better ways to manage your licenses, look no further than UTC Spectrum Services. Contact Donald Vasek, Director of Spectrum Services, today for a specialized quote at 202.833.6814.

Advertise in Both Print and Online Versions of the UTC Journal

UTC is now accepting advertising reservations for the remaining 2010 issues of the UTC Journal. The UTC Journal is a great way for vendors to get their products and services in front of telecom and IT professionals at energy and water utilities. In addition to the option of advertising in the printed version of the UTC Journal, sponsoring the online version is another avenue to consider.

For rates and other information, contact Cheryl Stratos.
