“Utilities will be spending more time and money on cyber security over the next two years than they are currently planning. If it hasn’t already, the NIST Smart Grid Cyber Security Guidelines will become their Bible.” - William R. Moroney, President /CEO, Utilities Telecom Council

The UTC Smart Grid Cyber Security Webinar will be available at no charge to UTC members as well as federal and state regulators, but you must register to participate.

Understanding the NIST Smart Grid Cyber Security Guidelines is especially important to all electric, gas and water utilities as well as their regulators, because it is the definitive work on what must be done to protect these critical elements of our nation’s infrastructure. Much work is already being done, especially in the bulk power arena; however, more cyber security is needed and that need extends into the energy distribution system. While not yet announced, it is logical to expect that NERC CIP work in 2011 will begin to mirror much of what is embodied in these NIST guidelines. That is why it is so critical the all utilities begin to understand their scope and impact. This Webinar will serve as an essential introduction.

While the focus of these cyber security guidelines is on smart (electric) grids, their application is equally important to gas and water utilities. All of UTC's electric, gas and water utility members as well as our technology partner members are invited and encouraged to have someone from their organization participate in this Webinar Questions? Please contact UTC’s Member Services Department at 202.833.6812 or meetings@utc.org.
