UTC UTC UTC

Standards

UTC is very aware of the complexity of the smart grid effort and acknowledges that no one person or organization can be an expert on everything. UTC has offered regulatory information, analysis and guidance to its members for more than 60 years and in this spirit we extend our member benefits to the reporting and analysis of technical standards related to utilities and critical infrastructure communications. Members and client will be routinely queried as to areas of interest and we will shift our focus based on member input and demand.

We have devoted considerable resources to this effort and will use all the tools available to us. UTC professional networking activities on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn will include standards information. Short summaries of reports will be posted to UTC Insight blog and in the Intelligence emails with links to full reports available to UTC members. Email groups will be dedicated to various topics and audiences.

Our short term goal is to monitor the activities of NIST and smart grid standards, where UTC is a voting member of the SGIP, specifically related to wireless and internet protocol communications. We will also participate in IEEE standards efforts, like the P2030 and 802.15.4g groups. Control system security roadmap activity will be included in our reports. Our contribution to the DOE study will also be documented.
