Region 3 Fall 2008 Meeting

We are pleased to announce that Rappahannock Electric Cooperative will host the Fall 2008 UTC Southeast Region meeting on October 1-2, 2008 in Fredericksburg, VA. Please make your reservations as soon as possible to assure your attendance at this event.

Presentations 

The facility for the meeting will be the Fredericksburg Hospitality House and Conference Center/1859 Historic Hotels, LTD at 2801 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

• Transportation to and from Richmond, Dulles, and Reagan Airports to the FHHCC - There are several shuttle companies however FHHCC recommends the following services: Fredericksburg Limousine at (888) 565-3262; www.fredericksburglimo.com, Dafre Transportation at (866) 510-9879, or Chop Chop Shuttle Service at www.chopchopshuttleandtour.com.

• FHHCC has wireless and hard-wired Internet access at no charge throughout the hotel, sleeping rooms, lobby areas, and meeting rooms.

The UTC Regulatory Update and Business meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon, October 1 and the technical presentation session will follow on Thursday, October 2. Members and vendors are encouraged to participate in the technical sessions by suggesting appropriate topics or speakers to Will Roberts at the address below. A SERC closed session meeting will be held on Friday morning October 3.

The Vendor Exhibition will be held on Wednesday evening, October 1 from 4:30-8:00PM. This will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages as well as fellowship with UTC members, vendors, and guests. A wide variety of vendors will be present to show off their latest wares of interest to UTC members. Last and certainly not least, there will be drawings for some great door prizes given away at the end of the evening (You must be present to win. Please bring a business card to registration to participate in the drawings).

Who Should Attend: Sessions are relevant for managers of IT and telecom, wireless and transport engineers and technicians, and networking professionals from utility and energy companies, as well as representatives from technology and service providers.
