Public Policy

The mission of UTC's Public Policy Division and Legal/Regulatory Department is to ensure that lawmakers and regulators at both federal and state levels understand and address the unique needs of our members. Partnering with UTC members, the Legal/Regulatory Department develops strategies and works for regulation and legislation that enable members to carry out their core responsiblities of providing the safe and reliable public services on which the entire economy depends.

UTC's Legal/Regulatory staff offers members a unique level of expertise due to our everyday work on the policy level of issues. Unlike most private sector lawyers, UTC attorneys work for an entire industry, and we specialize in telecom and IT issues. In addition, UTC attorneys work closely with the Council’s Research, Spectrum Services and Member Services Departments. This interaction provides a multi-directional flow of information on industry trends, as well as engineering and technical issues as they relate to our policy work.
