As bandwidth requirements continue to rise, the migration towards Ethernet based services will continue to grow. The cost benefits and data-centric nature of new applications makes Ethernet the preferred transport mechanism but for the foreseeable future, operators need to balance data build outs with existing network applications and equipment. In addition, the ability to support both data and TDM based traffic over existing infrastructure is critical to ensuring that existing services and customers are not impacted throughout this process. The goal of this session is to provide case study information on the cost implications of Ethernet delivery as well as its coexistence with services delivered today.
